There is certain music that makes you drink gallons of beer, grow glorious beards, eat raw meat and take any woman from any man that you desire, and Barbarian Fist and their new effort The Whorelord Cometh is one of those releases. If this album doesn’t make you grow a majestic beard I really don’t know what will. This release is relatively short, but only song wise as this release clocks in at forty minutes. Within those forty minutes you get sludge filled music that is just as thick and murky as the brew that barbarians probably drank.
The Whorelord Cometh is a stubbly and rumbling doom laden album that has all the power to knock you on your ass. This effort by these Swedish beard brandishing is a thick an massive album, almost as thick and massive as the great woolly mammoth.
Describing The Whorelord Cometh as a behemoth is appropriate. It is a giant, and each song is just as fuzz filled and powerful as the last. This release can strong arm just about anything and isn’t afraid of confrontation at all. Barbarian Fist-as well as their album-isn’t afraid to take whatever they want from you, including your beer and your woman.
This stoner/doom metal album is lined with incredible amounts of fuzz and jarring buzz. Not only does Barbarian Fist supply an over dosage of fuzz, but they also supply you with enough rhythm and groove to last you a life time.
Each song shakes and romps along getting you out of your seat and moving along to the filthy rhythms. Along with the heavy and the obscene amounts of fuzz, Barbarian Fist covers their release in a thick musk and an even thicker amount of dirt and grime.
You can’t shake all of the dirt off and bathing isn’t an option, so the only thing that you can do is revel in the glorious amounts of grime that these guys throw at you. After one listen you will quickly realize that bathing isn’t all that and that being filthy really is the way to live.
Once you enter the cave of the barbarian, fuzz filled and foul riffs fill your head as rhythmic and stone ax swinging drums crack your skull wide open. Throughout every song, Barbarian Fist deploys sickeningly shredding solos to compliment the skull numbing riffs. Each song enlists a bass presence that is thick and just as deadly as a saber tooth ready to pounce on its prey. Forcing their way through the music are the vocals that are filled with raw intensity and memorable power.
The Whorelord Cometh makes you feel like a man. One that can grow a beard in one minute, one that can drink pints of beer and still be sober, one that can wrestle a bear and win, and one that can make you tame wolves. Overall this release is heavy, thick, and purely bone rattling. You can’t deny the barbaric barbarity that is Barbaric Fist. Through all of the rumbling riffs, gravely vocals, and destructive bass lines, this release is unforgettable. No matter you’re a man, woman, or otherwise, you will grow a beard after listening.
