Hailing from Argentina is Infernal Curse and with them they tote along their sophomore release Apocalipsis. Infernal Curse plays a soul destroying brand of black metal. Apocalipsis is an unrelenting maelstrom of fire, hatred and death and never once does it lay off the gas. The only songs that aren’t nearly as aggressive as the rest is the intro and the outro. The other six songs sandwiched between those two are purely blistering and damning. Surrounding this release there is a very potent and abyssal atmosphere that takes you in with the cold hand of death and leads you toward an ever blackening abyss.
If there is anything to be learned from the short intro, it is that the rest of the album that follows is just as comfortable as taking a slow walk into hell. From the very beginning, Infernal Curse paints a picture of death and despair and with each listen you descend into a place that is maddening and bleak. This album has an innate ability to swallow you whole and encompass you in a damning blanket of abysmal fog.
Infernal Curse is highly explosive and a lot of the time they catch you off balance and when you are on your back struggling to regain consciousness they strike you through the heart with a dagger. Right out of the gate these Argentinian blasphemers deal a blow to the side of your skull and from then on they never stop attacking. Their style of black metal is blistering and it tears at your flesh only to drain you of your blood.
Crawling out from the never ending pit of the netherworld is not an option. And upon listening, it feels more often than not that you are trapped inside of spirit breaking place. The soundscapes that Infernal Curse paints are bleak and covered in scorching blackened hell fire, and the atmosphere that they provide is terrifying and entirely detrimental to your mental health.
Infernal Curse attacks you from all sides with sonic riffs, brain blasting drums, thick buzzing bass lines and harrowing and dissonant vocals. Wherever you turn you cannot escape the devastation and the brain melting, soul shredding music that Infernal Curse forces on you. The entirety of this release is a shredding madhouse of black metal.
All in all this sophomore release by these chaos masterminds is a purely blistering and deafening effort. Apocalipsis is as harsh as it gets and if you are up for soul damning black metal, you cannot go wrong with this release.
