Old-school death metal combined with a twisted cover from the one and only Paolo Girardi, what more could you ask for? Satanic Corpse is the third devastating record from Brutally Deceased and what you can expect this time around is more of the same unrelenting and uncompromising death metal. Brutally Deceased doesn’t wait around for you to get comfortable before starting in as they try to take your head off from note one. Satanic Corpse is thirty minutes of filthy and purely disgusting death metal that leaves you buried under a pile of fetid and rotting viscera as soon as one rotation is complete.
Brutally Deceased does play in the collapsed vein of old-school death metal but they don’t rehash riffs or relive the days when death metal all but took over planet earth. They take old-school death metal and make the sound their own and create a bludgeoning sound based off of the old-school forefathers. With all of that being said, the sound that you end up getting as soon as you lift you finger off of the play button is one that is barbaric and fueled by blood lust.
Brutally Deceased never lets up even to take a breather themselves as this entire album never takes your head away from its morbid date with a circular saw. Satanic Corpse does a great job from note one with beating you within millimeters of your life and throwing you on top of their ever growing pile of culled humans. This new record is a barbaric display of death as it reeks of coagulated blood and infected remains.
The sonic torture begins aptly enough with a song titled The Art of Dying and right when you begin listening you know that your fate is sealed and that you won’t make it back out of this record alive. Satanic Corpse is a blood spurting record that has you in its grasp until the final note has sounded and after that you get tossed aside as though you are less than nothing. You become surrounded by a wall of death and stabbed at like a slab of meat all throughout this record and when its over, these death metal heathens leave you to rot.
As the record plays on you become brutally dissected by barbaric riffs as your skull gets smashed into dust by downhill drumming and your throat slashed by heavy bass lines. The vocals in this record are menacing and monstrous themselves only adding to the already sinister and blood craving music. With a raw production style Satanic Corpse is a monster of a death metal record and it leaves you bloodied and unidentifiable by the end.
Satanic Corpse is an uncompromising and brutal record that should have any death metal fan excited. This is thirty full minutes of nothing but brutalizing and intestine spilling death metal that gets you headbanging until your neck fucking snaps, and that is exactly what you should be looking for in death metal.
