Blasting their way straight out of Southern California is Blasphemonger and if you are looking for a sound that is straight forward, rumbling, blasphemous and has no frills or filler, then you would be looking at the right band. Impaled Beneath the Pentagram is Blasphemonger’s new release and it sports six utterly disgusting and cross inverting songs. You can feel the evil pulse from your speakers as you listen and you can hear the intent to shred and destroy anything that stands in this records way. As mentioned before there are no frills and really there aren’t. There isn’t anything fancy about this release as it is just straight forward death metal that will annihilate you without second thought and without taking a look back.
Blasphemonger doesn’t take anytime at all to getting you acquainted with their sordid style of death as the album begins before you know it and before you really know it you are trapped in a maelstrom of sinister metal. These guys roll one disgusting and hate filled song after another until you are trapped six feet beneath the surface. Each song-save for two-are over the three minute mark as well which gives Blasphemonger plenty of time to rip you to shreds and welcome you to the hell that they have created. Once you begin listening you become subjected to a beating and then some as you come out of the listen looking like someone took a hacksaw to your face.
All six songs are riddled with gut ripping riffs, rumbling bass lines, chaotic drumming and gutturals that seem to be caked in blood and viscera themselves. With everything put together you get a listen that gets you headbanging until your brain pops through the front of your skull and even then you want to keep going. From song to song you get ripping tunes that do their best to sheer your head clean off of your shoulders and instead of sounding like a human created this sound it sounds like monsters themselves took a whack at death metal. To add to the already grizzly sound is the raw production. That itself adds yet another deadly element to this release. No matter what you do it seems that you can’t hide from this once you begin listening.
Impaled Beneath the Pentagram is a heavy and completely destructive listen that leaves you bruised and bloodied when its finished with you and that is what you should expect. Overall, this release is a good one that just absolutely tears you to fucking shreds and unapologetically so. This record is for anyone who likes extreme metal, death metal, black metal, or just anything that is just anvil heavy anyway, and if you do, then you can’t go wrong with Impaled Beneath the Pentagram.
