Combining death and black metal together seamlessly to create a unholy, grim and purely thrashing sound is Ljosazabojstwa. After releasing a demo two years ago, Ljosazabojstwa follows that up this year with a mighty EP titled Sychodžańnie. This brand new barbaric EP of theirs consists of six purely blackened, soul shredding and neck snapping death tinged black metal. Ljosazabojstwa begin their new release with Pozirk u biezdan, a two minute intro that is filled with ominous and haunting organs that really begins to sound like the beginning of the end of your life. Pozirk u biezdan melts straight into the next track Zhuba which immediately displays Ljosazabojstwa’s powerful and deadly blackened death assault.
Zhuba rumbles on at the very beginning with pummeling drums and buzzing riffs until about the one minute mark where the track slows down providing you with tolling bells and a sound that favors doom more than it does black metal or death metal. This slow dirge of disease and despair carries on for a short while before Ljosazabojstwa kicks it in to high gear once again putting on display their brand of caustic caustic brand of hellish metal. Not only on Zhuba but throughout the rest of the EP, Ljosazabojstwa displays a great amount of variety and diversity showing that they can sew together death and black metal together seamlessly to create a wholly disparaging and hell fire soaked sound.
Never once does it seem as though Ljosazabojstwa is lurching from one genre to the next. They incorporate both death metal and black metal into their sound very well creating a natural and cohesive sound that is truly undeniable. Both genres work together expertly to provide you with a sinister, twisted and barbaric sound that you aren’t soon to forget. Ljosazabojstwa crams a lot of content and a lot of metal into this EP and even so it never feels as though they are trying to do too much and never does it feel burdensome to listen to this EP all the way through. In fact, it is quite the opposite. Once you begin listening you just don’t feel the need to stop. Each track is expertly woven together and each track bleeds right into the next providing you with six damning and purely sickening tracks.
This EP isn’t purely a skull blasting fest however as Ljosazabojstwa incorporate slower more doom-centric sounds as well as ominous ominous interludes and plenty of blasphemous atmosphere. Each element that is provided within this EP is woven together very well creating a unique and fresh listen.
Overall, Sychodžańnie is a solid EP, one that you can really sink your teeth into and enjoy and never tire of.
Sychodžańnie will be out through Hellthrasher Productions June 30, 2017
