Xenosis is a band that you can’t really pigeonhole in to one single genre as they take from numerous to create an eclectic yet cohesive sound. Throughout Devour and Birth you will hear technical death metal influences, progressive death metal influences as well as some thrash elements among others. Xenosis sews all of these genres together to create a whole and well rounded sound. Never once does Xenosis’ overall sound sound muddled or like they are cramming too much in all at one time. Devour and Birth is a well executed and performed effort that provides you with ripping and flesh melting tunes through and through.

Each of the eight tracks on this offering are just as heavy and head spinning as the others. From track one to track eight, Xenosis rolls out head caving track after head caving track that leaving your mind in a complete tailspin. Each passage is melodic and groove laden, but punishing and deadly all the same. Devour and Birth is an ever rolling and unrelenting technical death machine that has your brain scooped out of your skull before you know it.

As a whole, Devour and Birth displays an incredible degree of technicality and precision. Each track is near perfect as each musician plays their respective instruments nearly flawlessly creating a head spinning maelstrom of death and malevolence. Even as technical as each track is they are melodic and groove filled none the less. With their new offering, Xenosis has created a listen that is seamless, air tight and down right bone shattering providing you with a highly addicting and memorable listen.

Throughout this release, Xenosis mashes the proverbial pedal through the floor to provide you with a whiplash inducing, non stop action, technical and well orchestrated record. From beginning to end you are gifted with nothing but some incredibly skull grinding and bombastic tunes for you to bruise your brain to. Devour and Birth is filled with great musicianship, unearthly vocals and solid production all to provide you with an entirely entertaining and well constructed record.

Overall, Devour and Birth is a great listen front to back. Though numerous listens this record doesn’t get old or tire you out quickly. This is a record that tech death, progressive death metal fans and just straight up death metal fans can and will enjoy.
