Calling out from the dank and dark depths of the netherworld with their debut record Konstelacja Dziur is Apatheia. These heathens have brewed and summoned eight wonderfully wicked black metal tracks for your sickening consumption. There is nothing here but blackened malevolence and malignancy as each track plays like a complete blitzkrieg, harvesting your soul before you realize it. With an overall relentless assault, Apatheia soak that in an oppressive atmosphere making each track undeniably potent and venomous. From beginning to end you are treated to a completely ruthless assault that does not stop for eight straight tracks as Apatheia rolls from one light stealing track to the next without hesitation.
It does not take Apatheia long before they confront you with their dissonant and hellish sound as they set off with the first track Odmetnia on their conquest for scorched earth. This pummeling and ever ceaseless track sets you up for what is left to come from the remaining seven tracks which is even more blackened savagery that cannot be denied. Each of the eight tracks that are harbored within the title Konstelacja Dziur are razor sharp and incredibly wicked as they lash out with malevolence. These tracks are wonderfully crafted blasphemies that grip you from the get go never to release your attention until the final track concludes.
Not only are each of the eight tracks pure onslaughts of death and despair, but they also grow more and more expansive as Konstelacja Dziur runs on. With lengthier run times attached to each track it allows Apatheia to capture your attention and captivate even more so. These longer tracks are lined even more so with a cynical and oppressive atmosphere than the shorter tracks and are even filled with even more soul impaling dissonant charges. The two lengthier tracks that top over ten minutes are more unique and dynamic than their counterparts making them even more engaging and intoxicating.
Konstelacja Dziur is an incredibly well done record especially for a debut release. Each of the eight tracks here are unique, incredibly heavy and riddled with underlying atmospheres that are sinister and entirely blackened. Through each track you are greeted with great diversity and variety never to hear the same thing twice as well as great musicianship and hellish vocals that are not to be forgotten. Konstelacja Dziur is one hell of a record placing near the top of my favorite black metal releases this year.
Konstelacja Dziur will be released October 1, 2018 through Godz Ov War Productions.
In the short time that Teleport has been around they have been busy to say the least as they have released two demos and one EP up until this point. The Expansion is the title of their newest offering and within this title you will find three new tracks of ever expanding, prog tinged blackened death metal with some thrash flair thrown in the mix for good measure. Each of the three tracks that are present here are adventurous mind warping offerings that are all together gripping and compelling. These tracks that Teleport has so meticulously crafted run on the lengthier side which gives each song time to expand, breathe and ultimately draw you in to the fray of ever warping and mind shifting metal.
Teleport takes no time at all ushering forth their brand of sonic wickedness as they immediately set forth with their opening track thrusting you in to their ever collapsing and expanding sound without so much as a warning. Each track is a well crafted onslaught of black metal mixed with death, progressive tendencies and some thrash elements to create an overall very well sewn together and cohesive sound that is hard to deny. These songs are highly unique and incredibly intoxicating as they pull you in making you stay for the whole release and then some as you continuously reach for the play button.
Everything on this release is done damn near perfect. Each cut has great musicianship, the technicality is outstanding, the production is spot on and ultimately each track is heavy, neck bending and mind bending as they should be. From beginning to end you are treated to a stellar release complete with three incredible tracks that truly are something to behold. This is progressive, heavy, entirely memorable and addictive to be sure. The Expansion is an excellent piece of work as well as Teleport’s most impressive and well put together piece of work to date.
Formed eight years ago in 2010, Psychotomy started out as a thrash band, only to walk down the left hand path to forge a sound that is of pure death and disease. Now eight years later, Psychotomy has an EP and two full lengths under their belt including this release. This sophomore effort titled Aphotik is nine straight brutalizing and lobotomizing tracks wrought with malignancy and murderous intent. From the first couple of seconds on you become ensnared in a gutting, dissonant and obscure sound that aims to let your veins of your blood. Each track is relentless, wicked and down right cranium impaling. This brooding mass of death is just that as it rolls out track after detrimental track of nothing but pure death.
Psychotomy first leads you in to their first track Towards the Pillars of Chaos/Kenosis with dissonant guitar tracks that set an overall unsettling and flesh crawling atmosphere before really settling down and force feeding you some straight up brutalizing death metal. It only takes Psychotomy a little over one minute with their torturous atmospherics before grabbing a hold of you with the clammy hand of death that ultimately leads you to your painful demise. This opening track sets the overall tone of the record of course and also marks you for death as it rips and tears in to you one minute after the next. Towards the Pillars of Chaos/Kenosis rips your scalp back only to let the remaining eight tracks dig at your brain and fester there for some time.
Each track rolls out like a rumbling death machine trampling over the weak and anyone else who dare oppose them. These nine offerings trapped within the cover of Aphotik are sadistic and twisted odes to death, curdling blood, ripping skin from flesh and flesh from bone. Aphotik is a ceaseless and relentless record, one bares its fangs and sinks them into you early on. From the very first track, this release does a great job of gripping the listener never to let them go until the battering and mutilating ceases with the ninth and final track. There are no fillers here as what you are presented is purely suffocating as Psychotomy roll from one track to the next like a killer would move from victim to victim.
Everything on this release is executed to damn near perfection. The musicianship is top notch and the ever demonic blood curdling vocals are something to behold and everything is topped off with a raw and dissonant production that rounds this record out very well. Aphotik is just punishing and pure death metal and nothing but for nine straight tracks. This is a release to behold and one to certainly not look over as this certainly is one of the top death metal releases to come out this year.
Aphotik will be released September 28, 2018 through Everlasting Spew Records.

The list of death metal bands that roll out that classic old-school death metal sounds seems to grow and continue to grow with only a few that really nail the sound and stand at the top of that list. With that being said, Hyperdontia is a part of that list and with Nexus of Teeth, they stand near the top. This record is a finely crafted bulldozer of bloody death. It is primitive, stripped to bare bones without frills or fluff as what you get is eight straight tracks of gutting and brutalizing death metal in its most raw and pure form. From beginning to end you are greeted with a gritty and bleedingly raw sound that stabs its meat hooks straight into you never to release you until the final blood soaked note has rang through your viscera soaked speakers.
This is death worship, and just straight up simple, pure and destructive death metal at its finest. Through eight tracks you are presented with something that is unholy, filthy and murderous. From the drop of the first note you quickly realize that you are in for a sickening and vile blood bath. Nexus of Teeth is a ceaseless and ever unrelenting record as it shovels out track after track of cranium impaling death for your gutting. The only reprieve that you are gifted is when the tracks switch from one to another, other than that you are constantly assaulted by ever visceral death at every twist and turn. Each track is a grisly slab of mutilating death that leaves you lifeless and torn to shreds as Hyperdontia usher forth track after track of skin peeling and blood letting death.
Nexus of Teeth and all of its grave desecrating horrors is something to behold. This is a grisly and nasty release to say the least, one that has a blatant disregard for life as it aims to drain your veins from the very onset. This flesh gnashing and skin shredding release is just that as it tears into you from the get go, never to stop, never to relent until its eight murderous rampages have finally concluded. Nothing here is clean as everything is soaked in gore and viscera from the production all the way down to the vocals making this to be an incredibly nasty and putrid offering that just cannot be denied.
With this debut record, Hyperdontia has put something out that is as vicious as it is entertaining. Nexus of Teeth is death metal done to a tee and will surely impress your chewed up ear drums.
With the convergence of gothic tendencies and black metal, new comers to the sonic soundscape Ardormort provide a lo-fi, darkened and melancholic sound to sink in to. Exist for Nothing is the debut EP by these black metal wielders which sports four tracks of blackened ambiance and an overall atmosphere of listlessness. Each track is steeped in a melancholic haze that has a knack for drawing you in and getting your mind lost in the fog.
The opener Carved in Silence opens slowly with an overall forlorn atmosphere that builds and builds until around the two and a half minute mark before Ardormort kicks things in to gear presenting you with an up tempo blackened assault. Carved in Silence hits you with fuzzed out lo-fi riffs that are paired with raspy gravel filled vocals as well as ever pulsing drumming and the ever prominent keys and synths that set an overall melancholic atmosphere. Carved in Silence is a great opener to this offering as it sets the pace and the mood for the remaining three tracks and gives you a nice six minute taste as to what is to come.
Each of the four tracks within this release combine both gothic, black metal and ambient elements together well to create an overall cohesive and full sound. Through each of the four tracks here within Exist for Nothing you get unique sounds throughout. Never once do you hear the same sound running through the veins of any one of these tracks as Ardormort does a great job of keeping things fresh and varied. Each track is a solid mix of gothic, ambient and black metal that works well creating an overall nice sound that is easy to sink your teeth in to.
The keys and synths are a very prominent feature that runs throughout each track as it provides you with the foggy and murky atmosphere that courses through the veins of this EP. The atmosphere provided by the keys is one that is melancholic and has an ability to draw you in, but not enough. If there is a new release to come about, I wish for the atmosphere to be more dense and prominent.
Overall, Exist for Nothing is a solid debut outing that could use some fine tuning here and there but is overall solid nonetheless. Each track is varied and diverse making this to be an entertaining release overall.
Since their inception in 1988, Sathanas has been scorching the earth with their brand of blackened thrash with release after release. These hellions have been consistently putting out hellfire baptized metal for thirty years with no signs of slowing down or letting up what so ever, and they show that here with their newest record Necrohymns. This offering is filled with eight tracks of ripping and face melting metal that is sure to get your neck twisted and your flesh melting from your bone. From beginning to end Necrohymns is a ripper and without so much as a pause, Sathanas set in never to relent until the eighth and final track has rang through the halls of hell.
Sathanas begin this record with no warning as they shoot straight out of the gate with a flesh peeling offering that sets the tone for the remainder of the record. From At The Left Hand of Satan onward, Necrohymns is a demonic earth scorching offering. In no time you will notice that your neck is twisting and that you just can’t sit still as that just is not an option when listening. Necrohymns does a great job of infecting your mind and getting your head to bang uncontrollably whether you want it to or not. Necrohymns is a furious and relentless record from beginning to end as you are granted no reprieve from the demonic offerings of Sathanas.
This release is grim, gritty and purely hellish. From the drop of the first note Sathanas sets off on a torrid rampage from track to track gifting you with one hell of a listen. There are no frills and no filler here as what you get is eight straight tracks of demonic reckoning. From wicked sharp riffs that are combined with ever pummeling drumming and hellish ripping vocals, Sathanas offers up a sound that is as catchy as it is barbaric and savage. Each track is a well written rampage of metal that is ceaseless on its warpath, trampling over everything that dare stand before it.
Necrohymns is one hell of a release as it provides you with nothing but pure blackened metal for your twisted enjoyment. This offering is as heavy as can be and just as entertaining and deserves quite a lot of recognition.
In all of their glory and filth, Majestic Mass come storming out of hell cloaked in midnight black to present you with a sound that is so wonderfully filthy and grimy that you cannot possibly deny it. Savage Empire of Death is the name of their new record and it sports seven total tracks of nothing but blackened rock for your sinister and twisted enjoyment. As grimy and filth riddled as this release is, it is just as addicting, catchy and memorable as you will be nodding your head along with each track as you roll along from one listen straight in to the next. Once the intro Triumphos Manifestum recedes back in to the ever bitter darkness, Majestic Mass kicks into high gear filling your gnarled ear drums with ever buzzing riffs, pounding drumming and savage raspy vocals that are not to be forgotten.
Savage Empire of Death is as filthy as you could imagine and sordid as you would want any record to be. From front to back, Majestic Mass put on a display that is beautifully dark and sinister as they roll from one unapologetic track to the next. The raw just crawled up from the crypt sound is a welcome one as it gives Majestic Mass that air of stagnant blackened stench that works so well. Through and through, Savage Empire of Death is a head nodding and soul stealing listen as each track is just as unkempt and devilish as the last. There are no breaks between sordid romps as Majestic Mass keeps on rolling supplying you with droves of blackened noise to sit and lose your soul to.
Not a single track on this record is a weak one as each of the seven within this offering are well performed and executed providing you with an overall well rounded and well formed sound that infects your mind whether you want it to or not. Once you begin listening you cannot escape the devilish magic that Majestic Mass supplies. Savage Empire of Death has a great ability to draw you in and keep you listening over and over again, and before you know it you are continually reaching for that play button. Savage Empire of Death is an infectious and addicting record, one that wriggles its way under your skin to make a nice fleshy home for some time to come.
This release took me by surprise in the best way possible. Not knowing what to expect, Majestic Mass outdid themselves and then some as they supply you with nothing but top notch blackened rock for seven straight tracks. Savage Empire of Death is highly entertaining, highly addictive, highly memorable and certainly not a record that should be skipped out on. In all of its madness and devilry, Savage Empire of Death is a wonderful record, one that surprised the shit out of me and hopefully will do the same for you. Caligari does it yet again with another entirely unique and incredible release.
Hailing from Estonia is Sociasylum who recently released their debut full length titled Crossroads. This offering is filled with eleven tracks that fuse hardcore and grind together to create a wholly chaotic and in your face sound that gets your head nodding in no time. There are no fillers, no fluff and no bullshit as Sociasylum hits you hard and early on without so much as a warning. Crossroads begins with its opener Cramped, an all out aural grinding assault that hits you square between the eyes leaving you twisting your neck and bashing your brain against your skull.
From Cramped onward, you are treated to ten more tracks of nothing but hardcore and grind violence that leaves you feeling weathered and beaten. Each of the eleven tracks that are present within this release are no holds barred assaulting affairs that are don’t back down and don’t quit on their pure metallic rampage. Through and through, you are gifted with eleven tracks of heavy handed heavy metal that aims to cave your skull in and ask questions later.
In typical grind fashion, each of the eleven tracks that make an appearance are short and never cross the three minute mark making these tracks punchy and venomous. Through Crossroads, Sociasylum rolls right from one track to the next, never giving you a moment to rest as they continue their never ending metallic grinding onslaught. As mentioned, these tracks are short but they pack a massive punch and that punch can be felt long after you have finished listening.
This fast and punishing record is a well put together offering for a debut full length. Each track is well performed and crafted making the entire release cohesive and well rounded. There isn’t a weak track on Crossroads as each of the eleven are just as heavy, spine rattling and down right entertaining as the others. This is a nice grinding assault with a little bit of a hardcore twist and it works really well. The only thing that would have helped a little bit more is if more tracks were tacked on, but that is just a preference. Other than that, Crossroads is a very solid and very well executed debut offering.
With one of the most sickening releases to come out this year, slam veterans Kraanium present ten tracks of disgust, gore and pure putridity within Slamchosis. These gore fiends have been burying bodies for nearly two decades now and with the addition of Slamchosis to their already brutalizing discography, they certainly aren’t aiming to stop any time soon. Slamchosis is exactly what you would come to expect from Kraanium. It is disgusting, perverse, malevolent, violent and riddled with enough gore and putrescence to make anyone vomit. From beginning to end, Slamchosis hammers away, chipping off pieces of your skull to expose your brain and slowly dragging your entrails from your body.
It doesn’t take Kraanium long before getting you acquainted with their sickening sound as Kraanium sets in nearly immediately. The first track Bound To Kill begins with an audio clip of a man speaking about how it isn’t easy butchering people before the track really sets in. This skin blistering and flesh peeling opening track sets the tone for the rest of the record as each of the nine tracks that follow are just as horrifying and gruesome. Bound To Kill just sets the knife blade against your throat, ever sawing back and forth until your blood spills through while the remaining nine tracks eviscerate and decimate your corpse the rest of the way. Slamchosis is vicious and relentless as each track rolls in to the next never giving you a moment of reprieve before the next slaughtering begins.
Slamchosis is suffocating as Kraanium relentlessly rolls from track to putrid track shoveling droves of fetid remains and stagnant entrails upon you. This release rips and tears through your flesh with ease, ever taking you apart with savage riffs coupled with machine gun drumming and blood soaked demonic growls. Among all of that, the slams are what this album is about-other than the gore of course-and they hit incredibly hard. The slams that Kraanium work in to each track are blunt force and skull caving and once they hit you won’t be able to recover.
This is an impressive bowel bursting offering from Kraanium and it might just be one of their best if not their best. Each track is a cohesive gore filled romp through the unfortunate remains of their victims, and it couldn’t be any heavier or more entertaining than it is. Through and through, this sickening record is a well sewn together offering that provides you with ten tracks of pure putrescence and putridity for your guttural entertainment, and man does it entertain and cave some skulls in the process. If you are looking for something with raw bludgeoning power, you can’t go wrong here with Slamchosis.
Slamchosis will be released October 26, 2018 through Comatose Music.
