Greve: Nidingsdåd utav det Uråldriga

Summoning the sound of the ancients, Greve comes storming out of the bitter abyss with their upcoming offering Nidingsdåd utav det Uråldriga. This release features two tracks that top just over seven minutes in length, which ultimately provides you with fourteen plus minutes of nothing but stellar black metal. Aggressive, yet serene, captivating, atmospheric, darkened yet majestic, Greve supplies you with all of those descriptors and even more all within two very good tracks. Within two tracks, Greve gives off an authentic ancient sound that is raw and inviting. Greve captivates from the very beginning, never having you leave their mystical and hypnotic record as they grab you from the drop of the first note never to relinquish you.

As mentioned above, Greve strikes a great balance between providing you with an aggressive black metal assault with more serene and atmospheric moments. Within the two tracks that are present here you are provided with a great deal of variety and diversity. You are never to hear the same things twice even with as lengthy as each track is. Tempos are consistently shifted as are tones, forever keeping you on your toes and trapped within the labyrinth of sounds that Greve unfolds before you. Each track is an intricate and well written piece of black metal that ultimately grasps your mind only to weave it down harsh blackened corridors at times and at others corridors of floating atmosphere.

Between sharply wielded riffs, tumultuous drumming, vocals that range between piercing yet gravel filled shrieks to unearthly bellows and an atmosphere that is all encompassing and devouring, Greve hooks you right in immediately. Both tracks are expertly crafted and performed providing you with one hell of a listen that gets better and better each time you set foot in to the unfolding soundscapes that Greve offers. Neither track takes any time off as each one presses forth offering up seven minutes of blistering yet mystifying black metal. Forever enchanting, blistering and mystifying, Greve envelopes you in all of it before you are prepared, never letting you escape from their maze of ancient sound.

Nidingsdåd utav det Uråldriga is a very good release. It offers up two lengthy, well put together offerings that you will put on repeat for some time to come. This is an excellent display of black metal through and through as well as a release in general that should not be looked over if you are a fan of the genre.

Nidingsdåd utav det Uråldriga  will be released August 19 through Purity Through Fire.
