Aeons Abyss: Impenitent

Arising from crypts of old comes Aeons Abyss and their upcoming offering titled Impenitent. This release features eight total tracks that are executed in the vein of old-school death metal as each track gives off a rotting and raw sound. Complete with melodic yet flesh tearing riffs, chest cracking blasting drum work and vocals that have an inhuman range, Aeons Abyss offer up a true grisly death metal treat here. With the run time topping off at just under forty minutes, you are treated to well performed and executed death metal for every single second of the run time. Each track is just as good as the last as there is not a track that disappoints or comes up lacking in any way.

Impenitent begins with the title track that starts off with a near melancholic, atmospheric sound that lulls you in to a false sense of security before the track takes off and buries you deep among the droves of riffs and blasting drum work. Aeons Abyss weaves intricate labyrinths of death right before you having you wander through each twist and turn as you have your face cleaved straight off of your skull. Each of the eight tracks that are harbored within the walls of this offering as just as intricate and technical as the last making this to be a ripping and mind warping death metal release.

With elaborate and intricate song writing, great technical ability and plenty of atmosphere, Aeons Abyss brings everything together nicely to create a well rounded and entirely cohesive and comprehensive effort. There isn’t a cut on this record that is lacking in any area as each one is just as solid and well executed as the last. Impenitent is solid through and through as it provides you with eight ripping, technical, atmospheric and down right intricate tracks one right after the next. Impenitent is an entertaining and engaging effort, one that will surely get your head banging until you snap your neck.

Through and through Impenitent is as great offering. Aeons Abyss style is very firmly rooted within the old-school death metal style of the 90’s, never to bite that style however, only to make it their own twisting labyrinth of death and mayhem. Be sure you are prepared for this unfolding, twisting death metal mayhem.

Ancient Flame weaves tale after tale, unfolding labyrinths before you as you forever wander them as Ancient Flame gets you lost among them. Ever twisting and turning, each cut provides you with a blistering onslaught of black metal that comes to claim your soul and your mind.

As potent and as much blackened sonic hellfire as Ancient Flame spits out at you, they also pack each track with droves of atmosphere as well. With each track steeped in mystical atmosphere, they truly take your mind and have you wander through each tale that is told. As blistering and assaulting as these seven tracks are, they are just as captivating all the same. From beginning to end, Ancient Flame sweeps you into their atmosphere laden sound only to grip you tightly never for you to leave until the final gnarled note has rang through.

There isn’t a track here that outshines any other as each and ever single one of the seven offerings harbored within Tyrant Blood is excellent. This is black metal done pretty damn perfectly making this entire release in to one well rounded and executed effort. From beginning to end you are treated to stellar black metal that grabs your attention never to let it waver, and only for you to press play again and again once all is said and done. Through and through, Tyrant Blood is a great offering and nothing else really needs to be said other than that.

Killery: Ready For The Apocalypse

Hailing from Brazil comes thrash metal heathens Killery. Released not too long ago was their debut full length album Ready For The Apocalypse. Recently they have debuted the official music video for the track Exuding Hate from their debut full length. This track not only heavy by way of head banging, but it is heavy thematically as well. Exuding Hate deals with repression and war among other social topics that may be hard to deal with in general. This track is blistering, heavy and and groove filled making it to be an entertaining and head banging affair. Through this track you are to come across ripping riffs that are propelled by blasting drum work, great bass lines and gritty vocals that turn inhuman and more death metal like when needed. Exuding Hate is a scorcher and the music video itself is one that will capture your attention right off the bat. Check out the official music video for Exuding Hate below!

Dismemberment: Arc Of Ancients

Five years after their debut full length Embrace the Dark, Ohio destroyers Dismemberment are back with their follow up full length titled Arc Of Ancients. Coming complete with nine total tracks, Dismemberment offer up a true, dynamic and heavy assault that has you twisting your neck before you realize. While there is a lot of 90’s death metal influence at work all throughout this release, Dismemberment adds modern twists to those influences to create a sound all their own. Each of the nine tracks that are present here are well written and well executed offerings of death that are overall very strong and very potent.

Dismemberment does’t beat around the bush here as they offer up a straight forward death metal assault from beginning to end. There are no gimmicks here or filler of any kind as what you are presented are nine straight offerings of pure, neck bending death metal. Arc Of Ancients is heavy yet captivating all the same as Dismemberment ladle upon you one track after the next of glorious, technical, highly entertaining and memorable death metal.

With technical riffage combined with scorching solos as well as acrobatic drum work and a vocal deliver that is gritty and powerful, Dismemberment create a sound here that is undeniable. Each track is a memorable, highly addictive and entertaining offering that embeds themselves deep in your brain for some time to come. As a whole, Arc Of Ancients is a very solid record, one that you will be able to easily put on repeat and never get tired of.

Through and through, Arc Of Ancients is a very good record. With this release you are treated to nine great tracks one after the next that get your head banging and you bashing your brain against its skeletal prison in no time. If you are a fan of death metal or old-school death metal, Arc Of Ancients is a no brainer.

Nex Carnis: Black Eternity

Nex Carnis: Black Eternity

Hailing from Iran comes death metal bulldozers Nex Carnis and towing along with them they bring devastation by the title of Black Eternity. This EP is filled with two offerings that top just over ten minutes total, and even as short as this release is it cuts deep, leaving your neck severed hanging on by just a thread of tendon. Destructive and grave desecrating, Nex Carnis set in immediately never giving you a moment to brace yourself for the potent flesh masticating death metal onslaught that you are about to witness. The two tracks that make this EP up are savage and down right skull sanding, leaving you as nothing more than pulverized matter in a shallow grave.

Nex Carnis truly delivers quality over quantity here within this EP as what you get are two damn near perfect death metal onslaughts. From beginning to end, Nex Carnis tears through you, maiming and mutilating you with the passing of each second. Powerful, potent, grisly, twisted and dark, Nex Carnis offer up a true bloodied death metal assault here. From the drop of the first note of Black Eternity you get dragged asunder to depths of death not yet explored. Through each of the two offerings here, these corpse hoarders unfold a labyrinth of death before you as they take you down corridor after corridor of horror that will surely lead to your demise.

Black Eternity drowns you in vile death and does a great job of it all within two tracks. As mentioned, as short as this offering is as it tops just over ten minutes, it more than makes up for in quality. Nex Carnis leaves you wanting more miasmal death at the end of this release which ultimately makes you reach for the play button over and over again. Both tracks are executed well, well written and performed to perfection ultimately creating an overall sound that is addictive and deadly.

It will be exciting to see what Nex Carnis has up their sleeve for when a new full length is to appear, but for now we are left with this grisly majesty of a release that will surely lead you to an early grave.

Coffin Rot: A Monument To The Dead

Hoarding corpses and aiming to claim you as their next victim, Coffin Rot spews forth from the bowels of a stale and stagnant crypt to offer up their next full length. Titled A Monument To The Dead, Coffin Rot packs this release full to the bursting point with eight vile, disgusting and ever flesh tearing offerings. You will not get treated to any filler or fluff as what you get from beginning to end is eight pure tracks of bleeding raw, beheading devastation. As one track fades into the ever blackened obscurity, the next bulldozer of death begins, aiming to lower you into the stale earth well before your time should be up. Gutting and maiming, Coffin Rot ushers forth a true mutilating effort here, one that will snap your neck and rip your flesh from bone before all is said and done.

Each of the eight tracks that are present here are as potent and powerful as the next making this to be a true terrorizing and blood boiling offering. Through and through, Coffin Rot has created something here that is menacing, dark, twisted and down right vile. Ever flesh consuming and lobotomizing, they usher forth one cut after the next until you are eviscerated and left as nothing more than a stain of red. With tight, technical skin peeling riffs that are coupled with chest caving drum work and vocals that are incredibly inhuman and entirely monstrous, Coffin Rot claims you as their next victim in their ever growing horde of rotted flesh.

It doesn’t get much more grisly and all consuming as A Monument To The Dead. This release drags you through horrors that you haven’t yet seen all while you are being picked apart and mutilated at the great delight of every track here. Each offering is deranged, horrifying and down right heavy. Not only that, but Coffin Rot has found a formula here that not only is heavy, devastating and brain skewering, but memorable as well. You can try as you might, but A Monument To The Dead will stuck in your head for some time to come like leeches to a diseased carcass.

A Monument To The Dead is potent, powerful, ripping, skewering, eviscerating and so many more descriptors that make this release so great overall. This is a true, bleeding raw death metal record through and through and it is fucking insane. For their debut full length record, Coffin Rot hits the nail right on the head as they produce a record here that is perfect. Eight tracks through and through are all well performed, executed, written, produced and more to treat you to an overall stellar listening experience. It would not be wise to pass this release up as this will be one of the finest death metal releases to come out this year.

A Monument To The Dead will be released October 18 through Blood Harvest and Rotted Life.
