In a culmination of doom, stoner rock, punk and more, The Hÿss offers up a buzzing hard hitting sound that sinks its hooks deep in to your mind. Hound is the title of the upcoming EP from The Hÿss in which it provides you with five incredibly infectious and memorable tracks. Even though these merchants of heavy employ numerous genres, the overall sound is cohesive and varied throughout. Never are you to hear the same thing twice as The Hÿss does a great job of incorporating all of their influences to create a well rounded and diverse sound.
Each of the five tracks here pack quite the punch. Throughout this release you are treated to fuzzed out melodious riffs, ever pounding drumming, spine numbing bass lines and dissonant gritty vocals that will get you shouting right along with them. These tracks are unique in their own way as they offer up varied sounds from one another. Hound is varied and memorably so. It won’t be long before each track gets stuck rattling around in your head for some time. These are easy tracks to get right in to as each one is engaging and highly entertaining as they get your head nodding in no time.
Through and through Hound offers up heavy hitting, melodic, entertaining and memorable tracks one right after the next. Each of these tracks present here are executed well as the musicianship is great as are the vocals and to round everything out nicely is a great production. What you get here is a sound that is infectious and undeniable as each offering is just as good as the last. From the doom elements to the punk, everything within this EP is done very well to provide you with an all around solid and cohesive effort.
Overall, Hound is a very good EP, one that is engaging and hard rocking from beginning to end. No punches are pulled here as The Hÿss lay everything out on the table to present to you a unique and memorable sound that will stick with you. If you are looking for a solid, hard rocking release to bang your head to, look no further than Hound.
In a true cacophony of industrial madness, Gorgonchrist emerges from the bitter shadows to grace us with their ever twisted release The Blood of Endangered Species. This seven track offering provides you with nothing but savagery and nihilism from beginning to end. This offering of mechanized mutilation is just that as it pushes the boundaries of industrial metal among others to provide you with a truly accosting aural assault. Each of the seven tracks that are present within this release are just as bloodied and wicked as the ones that came before it. With no reprieve, Gorgonchrist usher forth track after track of bulldozing noise that is sure to make your skull rattle and your ears bleed.
The Blood of Endangered Species is an unhinged and unfiltered slab of gruesome metal that throws you for loops and twists that you have no time to prepare for. This release is pure madness as it tears at your psyche and melts your brain within its concise seven cuts of maddening noise that you will have a hard time getting out of your head. The Blood of Endangered Species sounds exactly like an acid trip gone south as you become under siege by numerous jarring sounds that depict, and paint soundscapes that are wholly unnerving and nihilistic. Each offering is just as accosting and savage as the last as each one provides you with pure mechanized sonic torment for the entirety of their run times.
With crusted riffs and nightmarish vocals all tied together with the chaotic string that is the industrial and electronic elements, you get a sound that is jarring and skin crawling. Nothing within this release will make you feel at ease and comfortable as it aims to make you as uncomfortable and feel as unpleasant as you possibly can. Gorgonchrist’s ceaseless aural assault is something to behold as they have complete disregard to life in general as they usher forth track after track of brutalizing and ear drum gnawing noise.
This release as a whole is a cacophony of blistering, nihilistic noise that will infest your brain like a parasite. The Blood of Endangered Species is a bitter, dark and twisted release, one that provides you with droves of malicious noise one track after another. With that said, it is hard to turn away from this record all the same. As jarring and wicked as it is, it still is gripping and engaging all the same. Each track is a well put together maelstrom of sickness and nihilism making the entire record to be a well constructed and well rounded offering of despair and sickness. The unique style in which Gorgonchrist plays is hard to ignore and so is this record.

Culminating filth and destruction by bringing together doom, death, dungeon synth and power electronics is Chasmdweller. As unique as their sound is, Chasmdweller’s sound is just as punishing and foreboding. The two vile tracks that are present within their self titled release combine all of the above genres to create something unholy and entirely unique. Through this twenty minute release, you become subject to an overall bone shaking, disparaging sound that aims to grind your bones to dust. This self titled release is a monster. It is one that is multi headed and multi faceted as it comes accosts you from all sides with each genre that it employs with pure malevolence.
With as many genres and unique sounds as Chasmdweller stitches together here, you may think that the overall sound would be muddled, but the opposite is quite true. Chasmdweller sews everything together seamlessly to create a cohesive and comprehensive sound that is gripping and down right deadly. From the abyssal doom to the skull shattering death metal and foreboding ambiance and atmosphere that the electronic elements provide, you come to listen to a well balanced and filthy sound. Both tracks are constructed in such a way that each aspect of each genre has their time to shine making this self titled release as a whole very well rounded and put together.
From the very beginning, Chasmdweller has a great ability to pull you in to the murk and filth as their tracks are ever gripping and compelling. With great malevolence, Chasmdweller lumbers forth through each minute gifting you with something that you have not heard before in the minute previous. Both of the tracks that are harbored within the title are filthy and twisted offerings, ones that bring death and wield plagues. As they rumble forth, each track burns life to ashes and darkens where light dwells. These are sinister and malevolent offerings that march forth leaving destruction and disease in their wake.
Chasmdweller offers something new here with their self titled release that is very welcomed. Their sinister and murky sound is inviting and devilish to the point where you have to press play again and again. Within only two tracks, Chasmdweller offers something that is compelling and unique that is hard to ignore. This is a very solid debut offering from these dungeon lurkers.

Meshing the likes of hardcore with elements of death metal, d-beat, some sludge and punk to create an overall pissed off and ultimately neck bending heavy sound is Bather. With their self titled release, Bather unleashes six tracks that are all just as heavy and skull smashing as the last. Never to cease and never to relent in their aural assault, Bather trudges from one track to the next to offer up an incredibly dark and destructive sound that is hard to deny. Each of the six offerings that are harbored within the title are equally savage and bone breaking, never gifting you with a moment of solace.
Nearly from the get go, Bather unleashes hell as they supply you with sickeningly heavy riffs that are backed by equally bone shaking bass lines and jarring drumming that are all complimented by unearthly monstrous vocals. All of these elements come together within each of the six tracks that are present to provide you with a non stop metallic assault that aims to tear you apart. As a whole, this self titled release is a savage and bone breaking offering that gets you smashing your brain against your skull against your better judgement. Each track is a non stop neck bending and head banging affair.
With each genre that Bather employs to create their overall nasty sound, they all come together in sickening harmony to provide you with a cohesive and wicked overall sound. Never once do your bones stop rattling as Bather ushers forth track after track of ceaseless violence and mayhem. Bather does a great job through each track switching tempos and sounds as they offer up a slower trudging sound that is akin to sludge then promptly switch gears to a more up tempo romp more akin to death metal and back again. These tempo and style changes are utilized effectively throughout each cut, gifting you with a varied and diverse listen. Never are you to hear the same thing twice throughout this self titled offering as Bather does a great job balancing each genre they employ as well as the great tempo shifts.
This release is a monster, one that deploys a menacing and destructive sound that is not to be ignored. Each offering is a force of metallic reckoning that aims to claim your life before the final second ticks off the clock. These tracks are well constructed hymns of destruction and mayhem that never slow their roll until the final note rings through. Overall, this is a very solid release. One that is pissed off, heavy as an anvil and filled with enough variety to keep you coming back for more foundation shaking madness. As short as this release is, it packs quite a punch and packs enough great brain rattling content within it to keep you entertained and engaged. Bather aims for the jugular here and they hit their mark.

Hailing from Italy is A Vintage Death, and burning up through the frost with them is their debut demo titled Acrid Death Fragrance. Frozen together in bone chilling permafrost, death, doom and black metal come together to create an all together frigid and deadly sound. Through each of the five offerings that are harbored within this title, A Vintage Death does a great job of mixing all three genres together to create a cohesive and well rounded sound. Never does one particular genre over shadow the others as each work in sickening harmony to create a grim, deadly and overall deadly sound.
A Vintage Death employs each genre within each track at times that they are needed, forever twisting each track in to a different direction. At times you will get a face full of ripping death, at other times you are greeted by frigid black metal and at other turns you come face to face with plodding doom that trudges forth gifting you with an atmospheric and at times melancholic sound. Each genre has their place through each of the five tracks and each are sewn together in such a way that creates an comprehensive and cohesive sound.
There is a lot of diversity throughout this demo and a lot to pick up which makes you want to keep coming back for more listens. This is a very solid demo through and through as the musicianship is great, the dissonant raspy vocals are on point and the overall ambiance is as wicked and frigid as you would hope it to be. Each cut from this release provides you with plenty of variety and diversity throughout which in turn gifts you with numerous twists and turns to look forward to.
Overall, Acrid Death Fragrance is a very well done and executed offering, one that can be and should be listened to many times over. There isn’t a weak track throughout as each one is just as solid as the last gifting you with an overall very entertaining and engaging listen.
In a culmination of all things heavy, Usurper return with Lords of the Permafrost. After a fourteen year hiatus, this monster of a band is back once again to gnash at your flesh and melt your face from your skull. Combining thrash elements with heavy metal, death metal and hints of black metal, Usurper offers up a multi headed attack that is just as relentless as you could imagine. Lords of the Permafrostoffers up eight new tracks that are unrelenting and face melting. This release ushers forth track after track of suffocating metal that is hard to deny or turn from. With the passing of one track, the next scorcher begins in ceaseless fashion.
Without gimmicks, without fads, Usurper offers up a pure heavy metal sound that is addictive and intoxicating. One listen turns to many as you find yourself in an endless loop of heavy metal madness. Lords of the Permafrost does a great job of gripping you and your attention from the very get go never to let you waver. From track to bulldozing track, you are greeted by a maelstrom of metal brought to you by ever ripping riffs, skull cracking drumming and hellish vocals growled from beyond the abyss.
Once the ever aptly named Skull Splitter begins you know that you are in for quite the neck snapping treat as Usurper rages onward, smashing through the frost to present you with nothing but wicked blood boiling metal. Each of the eight tracks that are present within this release are incredibly well executed and constructed, gifting you with an overall well rounded and cohesive effort from beginning to end.
Each genre that Usurper employs within this offering work in great concert together to create a sound that is all together anvil heavy and incredibly memorable. With each genre bringing something unique to the table you never run out of variety and diversity all throughout. With the memorable, catchy qualities of heavy metal, the chaotic nature of thrash, the flesh gnashing tendencies of death metal and the foreboding atmospheric qualities of black metal, Lords of the Permafrost has it all, making it out to be a very solid and all around great record.

Industrial meets death metal just doesn’t cut it with Chud. Their sound can be best described as sonic warfare. Dead is filled with twelve tracks of pure sonic torture and punishment, never relenting until you have been left faceless and lifeless. From beginning to end, the life threatening journey marches forth toward your inevitable demise. Each cut off of this release is monstrous as they barrel toward you at either mach ten or a steady marching pace like death marching toward its next soul to claim.
Dead is a ruinous piece of work, one that brings nothing but devastation and malice along with it. The dozen tracks harbored within this offering are face eating efforts, ones that feast on your flesh and gnash at your bones until you are nothing left other than a pile of skin and empty veins. Each track is a twisted mass of metallic fury that brings a wicked amount of malevolence and terror to the table. Ever savage and ever terrorizing, Chud never ceases in their onslaught as they forever push forth to provide you with twisted, destructive metal.
From the drop of the first metallic note, Chud instills a great sense of dread, fear and terror within you, never to back down until the final note has rang through. Dead is pure devastating noise, and it all comes at you in monstrous waves. With some of the heaviest drums I have ever heard, spine crunching riffs, thundering bass lines and disgusting vocals, Chud offers up a relentless assault. You become under siege from the very get go, forever trapped in their vortex of nightmares and sonic torture.
This is a very solid release from beginning to end. Chud provides you with a great harmony of death and industrial metal to present you with an overall chaotic and damning listen. Dead through and through is terror and malevolence dosed out in short to mid length tracks that keep on terrorizing you until you finally break. Once the skull splitting begins, it never ceases.
In a disgusting and twisted three headed assault charged by black, death and war metal, Eggs of Gomorrh are set to unleash their newest offering Outpregnate. This release is pure malevolence and chaos from beginning to end, never gifting you a moment of silence as they shred forth scorching the earth behind them. Outpregnate has an overall sound that is hard to turn away from, a sound that is apocalyptic, one that is terrorizing and menacing all the way through. Each track within this release is vein draining savagery that masticates on your flesh until it has been stripped from bone completely.
Each harsh and foul cut are short and razor sharp, aiming for the jugular from the get go, never to stop the cutting until you are left drained and nothing more than a mere husk. Outpregnate leaves a wreckage of pure carnage and evisceration behind it, leaving nothing alive only to then torch everything that may still remain. In pure wickedness and malignancy, Eggs of Gomorrh offer up a release that is filthy, cynical and down right consuming. From beginning to end you are gripped by the clammy hand of death never to be released until the last bone shredding note has passed through your speakers.
Stripped down, bleeding raw and down right insane, each track offers up a furious and malicious sound that is hard to deny. With wicked riffs that lash out, machine gun drumming that crack skulls and hellish vocals, Eggs of Gomorrh present you with an overall sound that is pure chaos and destruction. Menacing and terrorizing from beginning to end, this release is something to behold. Within its six short tracks you are greeted by nothing but pure madness and mangling metal that is sure to leave your neck snapped and your marrow sapped.
Demonic and ever unrelenting, Outpregnate gifts you with an all around outstanding and life threatening listen. Once the near two minute unsettling intro fades, Eggs of Gomorrh never ceases in their demonic onslaught as they pour the disease and malevolence on thick through the remaining five offerings. Outpregnate is a record to behold, one that will turn heads and subsequently rip them off.

Summoned from beyond the catacombs are two nefarious entities that go by the names of Ceremented and Malefic Levitation. The upcoming split between these two ghoulish bands features seven total tracks; five belonging to Ceremented with the last two belonging to Malefic Levitation. The two bands play an equally dissonant, dark and twisted form of heavy metal, but both bands offer up their own unique sounds. Ceremented cruelly sews together death, doom and punk where as Malefic Levitation supplies you with a ceaseless onslaught of bestial blackened death. As one track turns to the next, you are sure to hear nothing but grisly, disgusting metal.
Ceremented come out swinging first with their demented and bone gnashing style of metal. Fusing death, doom and punk together to create a Frankenstein’s monster of ghoulish noise, Ceremented offer up five gnarled and nasty tracks through their side of the split. Never to ease you in to the overall ghoulish and sordid split, Ceremented set in immediately with their first offering that sets the twisted tone for the remainder of their offerings. The opening track hits you with buzzing bass lines that ultimately collide with sharpened riffs, tumultuous drumming and dissonant monstrous vocals that transition between unearthly gutturals, bloodied screams and the occasional guttural gurgling. Through each of their five tracks, Ceremented seamlessly incorporate each genre that they employ to create such a grimy and twisted sound. Ceremented break in to fast paced romps through desecrated tombs only to slow things to a crawl, dragging you in to the dark recesses of the abyss with devilish doom. Each of the five tracks that Ceremented present through this split are well written damning offerings that showcase their ability to provide you with a unique sounding and entirely vile onslaught. These tracks run on the shorter side, never to cross the three minute mark, but even so you are provided with intense and ghoulish sounding metal. No punches are pulled through these tracks as the vile, tumultuous and haunting aspects of death, doom and punk are on full display through each. From the beginning of their side to the end, Ceremented offer up truly terrorizing and foreboding assaults that never rest until you have been fully rotted and lowered in to a damp grave.
The second side of the split features the last two tracks by Malefic Levitation. Malefic Levitation plays a noticeably different style of sonic debauchery than that of Ceremented. Malefic Levitation incorporates the likes of death metal and black metal to create a truly chaotic and skull sanding sound that hard to deny. You have no more than a half second between the end of Ceremented’s side and the beginning of Malefic Levitation’s side before these heathens set in aiming to take your life within the first couple seconds. Malefic Levitation waste no time getting you acquainted with their dissonant, in your face and ever flesh ripping sound as the propel forth with blasting drums, blood letting riffs and gravel filled growls that make your blood curdle. Each of the two offerings that belong to Malefic Levitation are twisted abominations of the blackest of metals. Both tracks are ceaseless onslaughts of terrorizing metal that don’t never relent until you are truly slain. Malefic Levitation deploys track after track of demonic reckoning that pushes you in to the throes of blasphemous twisted darkness. Never leaving you a moment to breathe, Malefic Levitation bears down on you with each of their offerings, suffocating you underneath droves of vile and venomous metal.
This split between two truly nefarious and punishing bands is something to behold. Each band offers something unique and different gifting you with a diverse and varied listen. Both sides of this split are great and as a whole it provides you with seven excellent tracks that are not to be denied. This is a great effort, and a great showcasing of talents that both bands posses. This is not a split to look over or sleep on if you are a fan of any of the genres mentioned or extreme metal in general.

In a mad mashing of metallic noise that features genres like: grindcore, doom, punk, d-beat, sludge, death metal, hardcore and more, Split/Cross offers up an incredibly eclectic and unique sound within their newest offering Rise of Discontent. In eight tracks, never are you to get the same sound out of Split/Cross as they are constantly contorting and shifting their sound. The balance between the numerous genres that they deploy is great here as not one overshadows another and each work in cohesion to create an overall blasting and skull numbing sound.
Split/Cross wastes none of your time getting you acquainted with their overall harsh and punishing noise. From the very onset right after a little interlude, Split/Cross sets off splitting skulls. Track to track, Split/Cross never ceases in their unbridled onslaught gifting you with heaping doses of nothing but pure chaotic metal. Never does their roll slow even when their down tempo sludge filled doom dirges crop up as each track continues to push the envelope and continues to push the over powering metallic noise.
Forever shape shifting and contorting, each cut is as unique and diverse as the last. Rise of Discontent is a wild and chaotic ride from beginning to end, never letting you fully get comfortable as you are thrown for loop after loop. You can never expect one thing or another from Split/Cross as they constantly change their sound minute after minute and track after track making them a true Frankenstein’s monster of metallic noise.
Rise of Discontentis sharp, venomous, punishing and brain rattling through and through, never gifting reprieve as you become suffocated under the droves of heavy forward charging metal. Complete with anvil heavy riffs, frantic vocals, tumultuous drumming, spine rattling bass lines and lyrics shouting out against injustices, Split/Cross feeds you heaping doses of monstrously heavy metal that is incredibly hard to ignore and deny. Forever in your face and forever venomous, each offering within Rise of Discontent is a record to behold. It is unique, captivating in its own way and highly entertaining.
The writing on this release is great, the musicianship is excellent and the overall sound of this record is superb. This is a release you cannot go wrong with.
