In putrid and vile fun and glory, VHS unleash sixteen new blood curdling tracks that rot under the name The New Batch. Taking inspiration from movies such as: Silent Night, Street Trash, House By The Cemetery and much more, VHS create an overall incredibly entertaining yet blood draining offering in The New Batch. Through each of the sixteen tracks that make an appearance here, you are treated to grinding and blood spurting offering after grinding and blood spurting offering that snaps your neck back with intent. As much fun as these tracks are they are just as deadly as VHS seems to have a complete disregard for human life as they sand away at your cranium for the better part of a half an hour.
The New Batch begins with an intro titled Welcome to The New Batch which features a creepy and cackling monologue that assures you that you are about to have one hell of a ride, and one hell of a ride is exactly what you have. As soon as the intro is over, VHS hit you with a short but punchy track that gives you a bit of a rotted taste of what is to come. Each track is a neck twisting offering that features punk, death metal and grind influences ultimately leaving your head spinning. The majority of the gore filled offerings within this release are fairly short yet violent leaving you bloodied and mangled at the end of it all. For fifteen straight tracks and for thirty total minutes, you come face to face with bleeding raw and unrelenting grinding tunes that will be bouncing around your skull for some time.
Now, as brutalizing and skin carving as these tunes are, they are just as entertaining and memorable. The New Batch is an incredibly fun listen, one that has you coming back for more and more deadly mayhem. Each track is well constructed and well performed providing you with an overall cohesive and fully entertaining listen that you don’t want to peel yourself away from. Much sooner rather than later these tracks will be stuck in your head never to come out. The New Batch is packed to the bursting point with track after track of twisted, perverse, raunchy and incredibly addictive tunes that really is difficult to stop listening to.
The New Batch has just about everything that you could want. Death metal, grind, punk, horror flick odes, tongue in cheek song titles, solid musicianship, gritty and bloodied vocals and even more. This is an all around solid record with sixteen total well crafted and executed tracks providing you with an ultimately heavy and entertaining listen.
