Chud: Dead

Industrial meets death metal just doesn’t cut it with Chud. Their sound can be best described as sonic warfare. Dead is filled with twelve tracks of pure sonic torture and punishment, never relenting until you have been left faceless and lifeless. From beginning to end, the life threatening journey marches forth toward your inevitable demise. Each cut off of this release is monstrous as they barrel toward you at either mach ten or a steady marching pace like death marching toward its next soul to claim.

Dead is a ruinous piece of work, one that brings nothing but devastation and malice along with it. The dozen tracks harbored within this offering are face eating efforts, ones that feast on your flesh and gnash at your bones until you are nothing left other than a pile of skin and empty veins. Each track is a twisted mass of metallic fury that brings a wicked amount of malevolence and terror to the table. Ever savage and ever terrorizing, Chud never ceases in their onslaught as they forever push forth to provide you with twisted, destructive metal.

From the drop of the first metallic note, Chud instills a great sense of dread, fear and terror within you, never to back down until the final note has rang through. Dead is pure devastating noise, and it all comes at you in monstrous waves. With some of the heaviest drums I have ever heard, spine crunching riffs, thundering bass lines and disgusting vocals, Chud offers up a relentless assault. You become under siege from the very get go, forever trapped in their vortex of nightmares and sonic torture.

This is a very solid release from beginning to end. Chud provides you with a great harmony of death and industrial metal to present you with an overall chaotic and damning listen. Dead through and through is terror and malevolence dosed out in short to mid length tracks that keep on terrorizing you until you finally break. Once the skull splitting begins, it never ceases.

Since their inception in 1997, Trollheims Grott has released as slew of demos, a live album and two full lengths in the early thousands up until this point. Now, fifteen years after their sophomore effort Bloodsoaked and Ill-Fated, Trollheims Grott is back with Aligned With the True Death. Even though plenty of time has elapsed between records it doesn’t seem as though they have skipped a beat whatsoever. Aligned With the True Death is soaked in malevolence and filled with seven blasphemous tracks that are sure to riddle you with holes. Each track is devastating and purely destructive leaving nothing but a war torn path behind them. This is a blood thirsty release and one hell of a come back record for these heathens.

Trollheims Grott takes little time to greet you face to face with their overall punishing and unrelenting assault as they nearly set in immediately with their opening salvo which is also the title track. The opener is a ceaseless bulldozer of death and disease, presenting you with nothing short of an aural and brutalizing assault of the likes that leave you shell shocked and maimed. The blitzkrieg never ends though as six more unrelenting tracks follow the same path as the opener. Each track is a blistering and blackened offering that leaves earth scorched and devastated.

Blood soaked riffs paired with ever machine gun fire drumming and hellish vocals make for a punishing life expunging listen. Each track is technical, precise and razor sharp making this to be a tightly knit and incredibly cohesive record. There is no bullshit here, no gimmick as what you get is pure blasphemy in incredibly lethal dosses. Aligned With the True Death is a tour de force as it is an incredibly potent and powerful record that is out for blood from the very onset. This is black metal executed to a tee.

More than the technicality and the precision, Trollheims Grott soak each track in haunting atmospheres as well that are brought on by the implementation of industrial noises and even more sinister electronic sounds. Not only is Aligned With the True Death pulverizing with straight up technicality, but that overall aural assault is supplemented by the ever oppressive and haunting atmospheres that are provided throughout each track as well creating a wholly concussive and soul cleaving sound.

Overall, Aligned With the True Death is one hell of a record. After fifteen years it is very apparent that Trollheims Grott has certainly not missed a beat. This release is damn near perfectly crafted that will surely please your scarred ears.

Aligned With the True Death will be released October 31, 2018 through W.T.C Productions.
