In wonderful harmony, death metal and power metal meet to create an atmospheric, magical, wondrous and yet face peeling and flesh picking sound that isn’t to be forgotten. Through the seven tracks that are harbored within Into The Dying of Time, Valyria create wondrous atmospheres and soundscapes all while shredding your skin to bone. Power metal and death metal would seem as though it would create a chaotic mix of metal that doesn’t sound like one genre or the other. However, what Valyria does here so well is combine both genres and incorporate elements from both so well and so seamlessly that you are presented with a great, varied and all around cohesive sound.

The sounds that emit from your speakers are grand and epic to say the least. Valyria provide you with powerful track after powerful track that captivates your mind and lets it roam through the vast soundscapes that Valyria create. Neither death metal nor power metal take away from one another as they work in wondrous harmony to present you with something that is unique, fresh and ultimately incredibly memorable. From the drop of the first note you very quickly realize that you are in for something special here with Into The Dying of Time.

This release is gripping and incredibly engaging as it grabs your attention immediately never to let it go. Into the Dying of Time is a release that you will find yourself coming back to again and again to get your fill. Every track here is tightly knit, well constructed and riddled with enough atmosphere to get you lost among it all. Each track is highly entertaining and intoxicating and before you know it you are under the spell of Valyria belting the lyrics out right along with the vocalist.

Never do you get the same sound out of these guys as they are constantly shifting and changing their sound. From minute to minute you don’t fully know whether you will be hit with barbaric death metal onslaughts or whether you will be swept away to a far off land with the stylings and atmospheric tendencies of power metal. The combination of the two genres here is wonderful as they work in cohesion to present you with a well rounded, incredibly atmospheric and heavy sound that you aren’t soon to forget.

Whether you are a fan of power metal or death metal, there is something here for you, and if you are a fan of both then this release is a must. Into The Dying of Time is an excellent offering as it combines two great genres to create an overall fresh and unique sound. This isn’t a release to be passed up. Well done Valyria, you majestic bastards.
