Dismembered Flesh Mutilation: Necrophiliac Decomposition

Mix some gore, death metal and grind up in a pot and what do you get? Unrelenting, skull splitting brutality and the band that chokes you to death with said brutality this time is Dismembered Flesh Mutilation. Hailing from Poland and comprised of members of the Polish underground metal scene, these slaughterers present you with a brand new twelve track record titled Necrophiliac Decomposition. Unapologetic and entirely sinister in their ways, Dismembered Flesh Mutilation create a sound that is completely unholy and terrifying to say the least. This debut release is a sickening and vile one that buries you beneath all of its vitriol, hoarded remains and down right barbarity.

In a complete display of unusual cruelty and putridity, Dismembered Flesh Mutilation offer up very little time for you to get prepared for what you are about to witness. Setting in nearly immediately, these corpse ripping heathens blast and chip away at your skull and sanity almost from the get go. With nasty gutting riffs, insane bone crumbling blast beats and entirely inhuman vocals you quickly become ensnared within the sonic flesh storm that they provide. Filled with mayhem, chaos and an intensity that could kill you all its own, each track within this release does a great job of ripping you apart.

Pure savagery one track right after the next is what you come to witness only for it to be forgotten as you become only a fetid flesh chunk of your former self once all is said and done. So caustic and damaging, Necrophiliac Decomposition is a truly vile and disgusting act of goregrind. Of the twelve tracks that are present here, all twelve aim to have your head on a pike made of your own spine once the final gnarled not has played through your speakers. You simply cannot escape the true entrails ripping sound that Dismembered Flesh Mutilation provides once you begin listening.

Utterly depraved and filthy, Necrophiliac Decomposition makes you feel like you need to bathe after listening. The horrors that lurk within this release are incredible and all packed within a tight run time and twelve brutalizing tracks. Gore upon gore upon gore upon pure devastating grind and death metal is what you can come to expect from these butcherers. While not revolutionary or anything of the sort, Necrophiliac Decomposition is just a straight up excellent release through and through. Apologizing to none and ripping the heads off of all, Dismembered Flesh Mutilation has created a monster here and if you are a fan of the genre you should do yourself a favor and check this beast out.

BAXAXAXA: Devoted To HIM

Forming in 1992 in Germany, BAXAXAXA swiftly released a demo titled Hellfire, only to return in 2002 to release a split with Ungod, and then after that, nothing. They receded into darkness where nothing had been heard from them for nearly two decades, up until this point. This year we see the return of Germany’s finest, BAXAXAXA as they unleash the aptly named Devoted To HIM. This ghoulish EP features two tracks of no fucking around, no frills black metal that drags you asunder into an ever reaching darkness from which you cannot crawl out of.

The ghoulish, straight forward soul stealing sound that the two tracks here provide is chilling. BAXAXAXA picks up right where they left off in 1992 sounding as though that is the era that they had been hiding out in up until now. Devoted To HIM is pure, blistering, raw blackened metal and nothing but. This EP offers up two tracks that are soul freezing and hellish and even so you can’t help put to want to listen to it over and over again until you are completely submerged in haunting darkness.

BAXAXAXA seems to have kept the blackened flame that fueled them back in the early nineties lit as they have kept the same intensity and the same ancient black metal values. Like an disappeared, but not forgotten god, BAXAXAXA has come back to grace us with their wicked presence once again and hopefully this time they are here to stay. This is what black metal is about. It is unapologetic, raw, blistering, ancient and down right haunting and chilling and all of that and more is what these black metal behemoths offer up within Devoted To HIM.

Overall, this is a fantastic return into the blackened foray that is the modern day metal and black metal scope. As short as this release is and for what it lacks in length it more than makes up in superb content. Both of the tracks that are present here are wonderfully well written and performed. This is a great return for this black metal cult.

Devoted To HIM is out now through Iron Bonehead Productions.

Goratory: Sour Grapes

Forming in the east coast twenty whole years ago, Goratory went on a tear releasing three full length albums within four years. Now, nearly sixteen total years later, these death fiends emerge from the crypts from which they have been festering to unleash Sour Grapes. This record consists of eight total tracks of nothing but debauchery, stagnant death, spine twisting technicality and belligerant brutality. There is no where to run to and no where to hide after you press play as Goratory stampedes forth with an intensity unmatched. Melting your face from your skull and scrambling your brain to nothing but mere particles, Goratory puts on a full technical and deadly display of death and nothing but. No fluff or filler is to be found here as this terrifying band bulldozes from one offering to the next without giving you any room to breathe what so ever.

Completely suffocating and entrails ripping, Sour Grapes pours on the sickening death with reckless abandon. Without concern for life or the complete wreckage that they leave behind, Goratory ushers forth a sound that is truly leveling and destructive leaving your ears oozing pus and blood. The technicality throughout this release is gutting, the brutality is skull splitting and the pure aggressive onslaught leaves you as nothing more than just a stain, a pulp of what you used to be.

From the moment that you press play, you realize that you are about to be impaled from every angle by sharp, technical, brutalizing riffs, organ rupturing drum work, spine rattling bass lines and vocals that are as monstrous as you would wish them to be. This completely schizophrenic, degenerative style of technical brutal death metal peels your skin from your flesh and melts the flesh from your bone, only to hack you to bits leaving you for the worms to devour. Each of the eight tracks that are present here are just a sickening display of grisly, bloodied and fiendish brutal death metal.

These tracks warp your brain, drain your veins, rupture your organs and leave your head hanging on by a mere thread once everything is all said and done. Barbaric, but technical, precise and down right brutalizing in, Sour Grapes treats you to nothing but pure death brutalizing technical death metal and nothing but. Through each of the eight tracks you become suffocated underneath the droves of rot and decaying death. Filthy, nasty and spine severing, Sour Grapes a great record just plain and simple.

Entry: Detriment

Hailing from Los Angeles, California comes hardcore punk act Entry. Their debut full length titled Detriment features nine total tracks of short, yet punchy and in your face hardcore punk that you cannot look away from. Each track is a stomping and furious one that gets you mashing your brain against your skull in no time. With as short as this release is, it more than makes up for in pure quality. Each track is a straight forward, hardcore punk heavy hitter that gut checks you from the drop of the first note and has you thrashing about from then onward.

Throughout Detriment, Entry creates a powerful and venomous sound that leaves your ears ringing as well as an imprint straight on your frontal lobe. Of the nine tracks here, all nine are a furious metallic hardcore punk onslaught that cannot be stopped once started. The tracks are short and neck breaking and they have a great tendency to get right underneath your skin as well. These aren’t tracks that you can sit still to as the pure energy and intensity is incredibly palpable and powerful.

The unhinged, raw and pure power of punk can be felt all throughout Detriment. Alien Queen: Matriarch

Emerging from the frigid unknowns of the cosmos comes Alien Queen and in tow with them their newest offering Matriarch. Matriarch comes complete as an eight track, fifty-two minute offering that combines the best parts of doom metal and death to create an insanely heavy life shredding sound. With massive riffs aplenty, Alien Queen buries you underneath the droves of riffs and the savage amount of black hole heavy that emerges with the passing of each second. Without regard to human life, Alien Queen marches forward with incredible power and savagery expunging all life and claiming the victims as hosts for the next wave of xenomorphs to savage the cosmos.

Alien Queen doesn’t wait long before they command their brain devouring and spine rattling sound to crush you. From the first second to the last you become engulfed in undeniably heavy, organ rupturing riffs trapped in a never ending vortex of doom, despair and death. Carved, crushed and left to rot in the never ending void that is the ever expanding reaches of space, Alien Queen mix death metal and doom together expertly and seamlessly to create a horrifying, deadly and life draining sound. It is hard not to be encapsulated and pulled in by the sheer weight and heaviness of this release as the more and more that you listen, the more that you get dragged out to the frigid unknown.

Throughout Matriarch, Alien Queen frequently switches tempos between the lung exploding oxygen starved doom and the ever flesh peeling, skull shattering rampages of death. While submerges you underneath the weight of a dying star, latter leaves you as nothing more than chunks of what you used to be, you become nothing more than a husk floating among the rest of the debris. There is no light to be seen here as Matriarch consumes it leaving you to perish in a cold obscenely dark unknown location among the outer reaches of space.

Alien Queen melt doom and death metal here so very well and with the musicianship and deadly vocals on point as well as the lyrical themes (of course inspired and taken from the Alien franchise) everything within this record is spot on. From the first second forward you are treated to top notch doom riddled death, or death riddled doom metal, whichever way you want to slice it. The melting of the two genres together here is perfect, ultimately creating a sound that is as heavy as a neutron star. Matriarch is just fantastic, and that is the final word.

Matriarch is out now. You can find it here.

Draconis: Anthems For An Eternal Battle

Hailing from Argentina comes ripping death squad Draconis with their upcoming full length offering titled Anthems For An Eternal Battle. Having come on to the scene in 2003, Draconis has treated us all to two EPs and with this release four full length records since then. Continuously aggressive and unrelenting for the entirety of their seventeen year career, they show no signs of slowing down with this release. With ten total tracks to its name, Anthems For An Eternal Battle is a destructive force from beginning to end. Uncompromising and neck snapping all the way through, this record treats you to a raw, dissonant, technical and face melting sound that ultimately will be your demise.

Draconis gives no thought what so ever about starting their record with an intro as they immediately begin their onslaught from the very second you lift your finger from the play button. With riffs that fly out from every direction that are only to be paired with tumultuous drum work and screamed vocals that are akin to that of a banshee, Draconis make their presence felt all throughout. Each track is a pure and aggressive onslaught of death from the first second to the last. With no reprieve you become buried underneath a relentless slew of flesh melting riffs and spine rattling drum work in no time.

Fast, wicked and undeniably head bang worthy, each track works their way under your skin and gets you mashing your brain against your skull in record time. Throughout this release, Draconis is unpredictable at times as they shift and shape their overall sound to how they see fit but they never waver from the overall shredding, intensely aggressive tone they create. Forever switching between structure and down right neck breaking maelstroms, each of the ten tracks within Anthems For An Eternal Battle is whiplash inducing to say the least.

This Argentinian death machine has created a very solid and well rounded effort here with Anthems For An Eternal Battle. Each track is just as good as the last and just as heavy and blood boiling as well. If you are looking for something raw, aggressive, punishing and purely face melting, you don’t have to look a whole lot further than Anthems For An Eternal Battle.

Anthems For An Eternal Battle will be released July 31st through Brutal Records. You can pre-order here for Europe and here for the United States and Canada.

The Black Hounds: Colossus

Groove filled, heavy and incredibly infectious, groove metal outfit The Black Hounds offer up their brand new upcoming release titled Colossus. Colossus is an appropriate title for this record as The Black Hounds’ overall sound is colossal. With massive groove laden riffs, powerful drum work and vocals that transition between gritty clean sung vocals and roars from the depths, The Black Hounds create a sound that is incredibly memorable and as mentioned infectious. Colossus features eight total cuts with each one being just as head bang inducing and as memorable as the last. There isn’t a track here that these heavy metal merchants take off as each one is just as solid, well executed and expertly performed as the last making Colossus a well rounded and cohesive effort that you have no problem with playing over and over again.

Save for the intro, the seven tracks that follow reach run times between four and seven minutes, making this release a lengthy one yet one that certainly does not seem it what so ever. With that said, even with the longer run times your attention never wavers and your head never stops bobbing. Colossus as a whole is an entirely engaging and gripping record that grabs your attention from the very get go never to let you go until the eighth and final tracks has concluded. One by one, each track will worm their way into your memory never to fade for quite some time. They will rattle around in your brain long after you are done listening only to find yourself head banging along to these tracks that have ultimately embedded themselves in your mind.

As groove filled and infectious as these tracks are, they are equally heavy and gritty as well. The Black Hounds certainly do not skimp on the heavy as each cut is a thunderous riff smorgasbord that is so undeniable and attention grabbing that you have no choice but to bang your head until it falls clean off of your shoulders. The aggression and blood pumping energy is potent and palpable all throughout ultimately whipping you into a frenzy before you know it. Colossus is not just your standard groove metal record as there is just so much more to it. More heavy, more grit, more neck snapping energy and much much more making Colossus a ruthless, whiplash inducing record that will not and cannot be denied.

This debut full length from these lads hailing from the UK is something else and certainly not something to be looked over. You are treated to eight great tracks one right after the next with no gimmicks what so ever and certainly no filler. The Black Hounds stomp forth from one track to the next with incredibly potency and energy that is palpable well beyond wherever you are listening from. Colossus is an outstanding record through and through and should stand among some of the best groove metal/heavy metal records this to be released this year.

Colossus will be released August 14th. You can pre-order the record here.

Texas Murder Crew: Everyone’s Last Breath

Paving a path with violence, covered in blood and rotten viscera is Texas Murder Crew with their upcoming offering titled Everyone’s Last Breath. This six track release is packed with nothing but bludgeoning, brain spilling brutal death metal and nothing but. Unapologetic and unrelenting, Texas Murder Crew sets off from the drop of the first note to provide you with one sickening track after the next. Everyone’s Last Breath is short, but with its short run time it packs much more than just a punch as it treats you to paralyzing brutality from the intro all the way through to the outro. Mashing through eviscerated bodies and decapitated torsos, Texas Murder Crew stomps forth offering up a truly bloody and brain splattering sound.

Texas Murder Crew hits you right between the eyes and begins to lobotomize you from the drop of the first note onward never to relent until your brain has finally splattered on the ground. Each of the six tracks here including the intro and outro are as heavy and punishing as you would come to expect. As mentioned, there is nothing here other than that of pure torturous brutal death metal. Dished out in heavy handed doses, the brutality and onslaught just do not stop until the very last buzzing note splits your cranium in two. Nasty, twisted and down right savage, Texas Murder Crew hits you over the head and continues to bludgeon you until the final track.

Violence inciting and frenzy inducing, Everyone’s Last Breath leaves you in a state of pure blind savagery and murderous contempt. More than just violent and brutalizing, Everyone’s Last Breath is memorable as well in its own sickening frontal lobe infesting way. With riffs that splay your flesh combined with drum work that shatters your skull, bass play that leaks the marrow from your bones and the inhuman dual vocal work, Texas Murder Crew offers up a sound that is truly hard to forget. Tossed in to the mix are break downs that really make sure each track is stamped into your mind from some time to come. Truly embodying the definitions of heavy and brutalizing, Texas Murder Crew ladles out the punishment in doses that will make you collapse under their sheer weight.

Powerful, potent, punishing, brutalizing, terrorizing, heavy and many more descriptors can be used to define Everyone’s Last Breath, and all of the aforementioned adjectives are true and so is the statement that this release is just down right great. You cannot go wrong with Everyone’s Last Breath as it has everything here that you could possibly want from a brutal death metal record. The only gripe that I personally have is that six tracks is simply just not enough, and that is just being purely selfish. Other than that this release is fantastic and a must pick up for any brutal death metal fan.

Everyone’s Last Breath will be unleashed August 7th through Comatose Music.

Terminal Nation: Holocene Extinction

What do you get when you mix hardcore, powerviolence and death metal together? You get Terminal Nation and an incredible dose of neck snapping heavy. After releasing several EPs over the years, this politically and socially charged band is set to unleash their debut full length titled Holocene Extinction. This offering features thirteen total tracks of blunt force trauma inducing, in your face, fury laden metal that you will not forget. With their bone crushing sound and point blank lyrics revolving around corruption, racism, injustice and more, Holocene Extinction is a record as a whole that will stick around with you for some time to come.

Without respite, without reprieve, Terminal Nation marches forth from track to track trampling you underneath their feet as they move forward. Through and through, Holocene Extinction is visceral and brutal and with the majority of tracks being as short as they are, they get sledge hammered straight into your brain in unrelenting fashion. A savage beat down from beginning to end, Terminal Nation makes sure that you hear their messages loud and clear and you don’t soon forget them. Thirteen brutally heavy tracks smash straight through your skull into your frontal lobe leaving a searing reminder of what it was that you just listened to.

Through Holocene Extinction you come subject to sensory destroying riffs that only are to come paired with bone splintering drum work and bass lines that make your brain leak through your ears. To add to all of that black hole heavy madness are ear drum bursting vocals that as mentioned, add to the sheer heavy that the musicianship already provides. The only real reprieve that you are offered is when track nine titled Expired Utopia shows up, but once it ends it feeds into yet another bone crumbling track titled Death For Profit. It simply does not stop with Terminal Nation as they roll out one track after the next of furious, spine melting metal that is truly incredible and undeniable.

Holocene Extinction is a blitzkrieg of fury and madness that is as in your face as it could possibly be and as heavy as it can be. This is a cohesive, well rounded and well constructed effort that goes off like a car bomb from the drop of the first note. Holocene Extinction is loud, abrasive, heavy, in your face, heavy and it fucking rips from track one to track thirteen. Once track thirteen ends you really just want it to continue for another thirteen tracks or more and that ultimately leads you to hitting the play button over and over again until your ear drums finally can’t take it anymore. This is an incredible debut full length, there is nothing left that needs to be said other than that.

Holocene Extinction will be released August 7th on 20 Buck Spin.
