Chaoshorde: Hordes Arising

August 9, 2018

Combining the likes of neck twisting speed metal and blasphemous black metal, Chaoshorde provide you with four darkened and purely skin blistering tracks within their debut EP Hordes  Arising. These speed worshiping maniacs play their brand of scalp peeling metal in the collapsed vein of the old, keeping the overall sound bleedingly raw and unkempt. This four track blitzkrieg of terrorizing metal is just that as from beginning to end Chaoshorde provide you with nothing but face melting and spine twisting metal. You don’t get an intro, you don’t get any fluff or filler, what you get is pure, unfiltered blasphemous blackened speed metal to crank to eleven.

From the drop of the first note, Hordes Arising is exactly what is described above. This release is hellish non-stop scorching metal that doesn’t stop the pummeling until your skin has been peeled back from your flesh. Each track is a ripping and damning offering that supplies you with a hellish amount of blasting drumming and scythe like riffs that are only to be coupled with rumbling bass lines all throughout. Hordes Arising induces whiplash nearly immediately as it sets off like a bat straight out of hell never to stop its twisting mayhem until the final bloodied note has rang through.

This is pure intensity captured within only four tracks. Right from the get go you get hit right between the eyes with a ceaseless onslaught pummeling you straight in to the afterlife. You get no time to breathe really as one track rolls almost immediately in to the next creating a damning vortex of shredding metal that just cannot be denied. Hordes Arising is a gritty and intense release, one that terrorizes you from front to back never to release you from its steely clutches.

Hordes Arising is a solid debut outing as it supplies you with four straight excellently crafted tracks that get your brain bashing against your skull in no time. Each track is a face melting ode to the blackened speed metal bands of old and yet Chaoshorde makes it their own. This is a very solid EP, and if you are looking for some new blackened speed metal, look no further.

Whipstriker: Merciless Artillery

January 18, 2018

Merciless Artilery Cover Art.jpg

Mashing speed metal and black metal together in a cyclone of chaos and mayhem is Whipstriker, and rumbling through the hordes of deceased is their fourth full length Merciless Artillery. From the front all the way to the back of this release, you are greeted with nothing but mayhem propelled metal that does its best to snap your neck and leave your head rolling on the ground. Through and through, Merciless Artillery is an unrelenting slab of gritty no holds barred blackened speed metal. Never once does Whipstriker lift their boot from your soon to be crushed throat.

Whipstriker gets Merciless Artillery rolling pretty damn quickly. After a very brief intro that is filled with gun fire and thunder, Whipstriker jumps straight in to the action never letting you really prepare for the ensuing onslaught and blood bath. From the first track on Whipstriker pours their brand of twisted, skull grinding blackened speed metal on thick never to let up and never to look back to see how many have been laid to waste. Through eight tracks you are greeted with skin bubbling riffs that are only to be paired with face melting solos that are backed by tumultuous and never ceasing drumming. Gurgling up from the depths of hell are the rabid and larynx shredding blood thirsty vocals. From the first few minutes on you become attacked from all sides constantly all throughout this release making it for a debauchery filled and incredibly dangerous record.

I am very confident that the word “slow” has been taken out of Whipstriker’s vocabulary as they propel themselves to a mach five pace without warning and they keep that pace for the entirety of the effort. Each track is a blistering eruption of unrelenting metallic fury. From the very beginning of Merciless Artillery on, Whipstriker does a great job of snapping your head back providing you with chronic whiplash. Each of the eight tracks on this offering are blistering blackened speed metal anthems that get pile driven straight through your skull and in to your brain. As dangerous and explosive as this record is, it is just as entertaining and memorable.

Merciless Artillery is a fairly short release clocking in at only just above thirty minutes, but within that time you are gifted with plenty of metal mayhem to satisfy your speed metal appetite. Each minute of those thirty is filled with nothing but metal. There is no filler and no time to kill within this record as Whipstriker provides you with eight straight tracks to mainline through to your ear drums. Overall, Merciless Artillery is a very solid record and a great addition to Whipstriker’s already great catalog.

Merciless Artillery will be released March 9, 2018 through Hells Headbangers

Antioch: III: Wings and Warlocks

December 31, 2017

Coming two years after their debut full length II: First Stryke, Canadian power/speed metal quartet unleashed III: Wings and Warlocks. This new offering is a step above their debut full length as Antioch displays more mature song writing and on top of that they have honed their craft more to produce a more technical overall sound. This new offering contains eight brand new songs that are sure to get your head banging and your fist pumping nearly immediately. Each track on this record is infectious, high octane, heavy and incredibly memorable. III: Wings and Warlocks is very well put together and very well executed to provide you with an entertaining and highly addictive sound.

Antioch doesn’t mess around with fluff of any sort as they present you with nothing but pure heavy metal goodness from beginning to end. Not only that, but Antioch doesn’t wait to get you acclimated to their ripping, soaring and screeching sound as they mash the pedal through the floor from the very beginning never to look back. The types of tracks on this release are the type that you can really sink your teeth into and completely enjoy no matter how many times it is that you end up listening. Through each cut, Antioch gifts you with nothing but turbo charged face melting metal that throws you straight back to the seventies where bands like Iron Maiden and Judas Priest were first beginning to pop up.

With technical, face shredding riffs that are paired with soaring, powerful vocals as well as barreling drumming and memorable song writing, how can you go wrong? The song writing and the technical execution of each instrument is impressive, and when the incredibly infectious vocals come roaring through your speakers, everything comes together in great heavy metal glory. You really can’t go wrong with any of the eight tracks on this release as each and every one of them are just as good, potent and highly memorable as the others. Much sooner rather than later, Antioch will have you pumping your fist and singing along with them.

III: Wings and Warlocks is a speedy, technical, massively energizing and incredibly intoxicating release that will have you coming back for more and more. Once you begin listening, each of these tracks work their way in to and through your ear drums firmly planting themselves in your brain for you to remember for days to come.
